PM Abiy Ahmed May Enter To Tigray
It is being reported that PM Abiy Ahmed may enter Tigray in the name of law enforcement.
On the other hand, it is being reported that PM Abiy Ahmed may be working to replace President Getachew with someone else.
However, it has been indicated that the Tigray Interim Administration is continuing to take measures to prevent this.
The news heard today regarding the regime led by PM Abiy Ahmed is as follows:
‘It has been stated that if President Getachew Reda does not bring to justice those primarily responsible for theft and other crimes, a proposal has been presented to replace him with someone else. Furthermore, it was revealed that there is an intention to enter Tigray under the pretext of law enforcement.’
“However, ‘starting things without finishing them’ or ‘talking without acting’ has increasingly become our defining characteristic. Nevertheless, regarding the initiative we have started now, we have begun the work of establishing order, led solely by the mandated body without any external interference. This is a process that will reach its conclusion and bring about change,” stated General Tadesse Werede, Vice President of the Interim Administration and Head of the Cabinet Secretariat for Peace and Security of Tigray.
General Tadesse Werede also announced that the measures currently being taken will continue to be strengthened.
In a message delivered at the Tigray Political Administration National Conference regarding the security situation in the region, General Tadesse noted that the security situation in Tigray is currently worse than at any previous time. He indicated that research-based efforts are underway to resolve these issues.
On Illegal Mining:
The General highlighted that illegal mining has become rampant, causing significant damage to human lives and the environment. He stated that Tigray’s mountains, arable land, and vegetation are being degraded.
He further revealed that there is a significant involvement of foreign nationals in this illegal mining sector, including citizens from China, Sudan, and Senegal.
“Tigray’s resources are being looted while crime rises,” warns General Tadesse.
General Tadesse Werede stated that the people of Tigray are not receiving the legal benefits they deserve from their natural mineral resources. He noted that the destination of the gold currently being extracted is unknown and is being sold on the black market.
Rising Crime Rates
Continuing his address, the General highlighted a surge in criminal activities, including land grabbing, illegal human trafficking, robbery, and sexual violence against women.
“To secure the safety of Tigray, we will bring those involved in illegal activities under control and conduct law enforcement operations. We have a security force capable of implementing this,” he asserted.
He warned that these operations are strictly about law enforcement and are not connected to any other agenda. “Anyone, regardless of who they are or where they are, who participates in illegal activities will be brought to justice,” he warned.
Economic Sabotage and Health Risks
General Tadesse further explained the worsening security crisis, identifying the lack of rule of law as a major obstacle. This has created an environment where illegal activities thrive, disrupting the trade system and fueling human trafficking.
He revealed disturbing details about the market:
- Public Health: Narcotics and expired medicines are being sold openly in markets, causing harm to the public’s health.
- Smuggling: Conversely, essential goods like cement and fuel are being smuggled out of Tigray to be sold elsewhere, despite severe shortages within the region.
Mechanized Looting and Heinous Crimes
General Tadesse added that illegal mining is being carried out on a large scale using heavy machinery and excavators, with the involvement of foreign nationals.
He also pointed to land invasions and the theft of scrap metal as ongoing issues. Most alarmingly, he reported a rise in serious crimes, specifically noting that “unspeakable acts of murder and sexual violence” are currently being committed against the women of Tigray.
Call to Action
In conclusion, General Tadesse stated that to resolve these governance challenges, the priority must be ensuring the rule of law and taking visible, decisive action. Ultimately, he emphasized that the political problems within Tigray must be resolved.
